Johnsrud Architects is excited to announce the completion of a monumental achievement for a hyper-tracked, multi-campus project.

The project included the construction and relocation of over 60,000 SF of life sciences, laboratory administrative space, and site improvements. The project schedule was accelerated to enable the client to vacate an entire campus without any lease penalty extensions. Within the project timeline, the program defined and aligned key business-driven workflow adjacencies, taking one campus and redistributing the functions across two. Meanwhile, enabling moves were defined, aligned, and executed in a critical, strategic logic.

The programming process also challenged the way work was conducted and provided innovative solutions to accommodate newer technologies. Ultimately our solutions serve to create environments that allows for the flexibility of their undefined future.

Innovative processes for efficiently and accurately defining requirements were also introduced, in a “walk-and-talk” type process that provided real-time visual understanding of workflow, hurdles, areas for improvement and specific requirements. This process contributed significantly to quickly generate solutions and  getting the field execution mobilized.

The basic strategy to achieve a simultaneous multi-campus consolidation is to “divide and conquer”. Under one vision, two sub-teams initiated and executed a perfect alignment, maintaining consistency of the owner’s practices and class of facility requirements. This was possible through the strong strategic partnership and team ability between the Owner/A/E/CM.

Highlights of the significant achievements of this project include:

   ■  14 month project delivery from A/E kick off to Owner occupancy.
   ■  Project completed on time and under budget.
   ■  Project was designed to achieve LEED Certification.
   ■  Land development, environmental approvals, and site development for parking expansion.
   ■  Innovative engineering for site and building infrastructure systems and equipment
   ■  Designed and implemented customized lab solutions that also gave user flexibility.
